Message from Michael Brodey
Since retiring in 1999, I've rekindled my interest in photography through digital photography. My first images posted here were shot with my Olympus 2100UZ camera. After viewing some of the great work on this site, I purchased a Canon EOS 10D (2003) (a new 40D in 2007)(50D in 2008)to hopefully raise my level of creativity and expertise. My latest purchase was a Canon 6D full frame, and It is by far the best ever. Along the way, I've had smany photos/articles published, including a couple of magazine cover shots, exhibited some work several times, have quite a few photos on display at some commercial businesses, and my photos of the Coast Guard, Station at Channel Islands, Oxnard, CA, decorate the walls of that station. In 2005 I won a first place and two second place awards, nationally, for the Coast Guard Auxiliary, for whom I'm an official photographer and contest judge.
I have graduated from using Adobe Elements to PhotoShop CS4, and now primarily use Adobe LightRoom for all my editing. While I always enjoyed darkroom editing years ago, I now marvel at the many techniques that once were so frustrating in the darkroom (especially color work), and that are now possible with modern software and powerful home computers.
Life is good in retirement!!
