Hi Mark, Greetings from Malaysia. Enjoyed going through those beautiful bird shots. Just wondering what lens you use now and the focal length. I note that you're also a good all rounder with other shots. Your beautiful work will definitely inspire me and the rest of other photographers round the world. My blog: www.flickr.com/photos/jbfoo If you have the time, do visit my site and hopefully you can pass some comments to help me improve on my pics. Thanks and have a good day! From Andy Foo (Malaysia)

Hey Mark - Enjoyed looking at all the pics and perhaps we may need to go riding on the Elroy Sparta trail and get some Pie at Pies are Square! and go take some picture together. This past summer Patti and I rode a few times and really enjoyed it!

Mark, when one looks at a lot of photography, as I like to do, one begins to see a few that really stand out from the pack. Yours is such work! Thanks for sharing it with us.

I have visited your beautiful photographic galleries for several years, and always have found beauty, inspiration, and peace. Your "Peace on Earth" image taken in the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge is one of the most exquisite images I have seen in my life - I say that after coming back time after time (year after year) to see it again - it never disappoints me. Your eye, your heart, your mind, and your skill have created new beauty in this world -- you see the beauty that is there and create a new, even more powerful perspective on it. Thank you for sharing your vision and your gifts.

Hi Mark, I am coming here to ask you about your Gimbal head and if you still use it and if you do what Tripod do you use with it as it seems to be top heavy but I am thinking of buying it. Thansk and regards, John aka Pops at DPR

Mark,
I ran across your Pbase site and thought I'd say hi -- your images are wonderful! I've missed you on the DPReview Oly Forum since you moved to Canon! I still have my E-20, but it's now a backup for my E-1 (Just can't get Oly out of my blood!) I love your wildlife images (The owl gallery is great!), and it sure is refreshing to see images by a fellow Christian photographer who understands that it's not 'Mother Nature' that we should praise for nature's beauty -- it's all a reflection of God's creative majesty. I hope your relationship with Our Lord is continuing to grow closer with each passing day! Drop me a line sometime, and if you get a chance visit my studio website at: www.imagismphotos.com

God Bless,
Greg (Daddyo)

Hi Mark,

I'm a photo researcher doing work for Holt, Rinehart and Winston on a pre-calculus math textbook cover. Would it be okay if I submit some of your photos of the Milwaukee art gallery? I was wondering if you have owership over these images and if they are selected would they be available for high resolution scan? If they are selected we will get back to you with publishing rights, and usage fees.

In the mean time could you please send me an email letting me know if I can submit them, ASAP please, as well as your contact information, name, phone number, address, etc..

Thank you in advance for your speedy reply,

Chris Russell

Mark,
I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your images -- and your input on the DPR Oly Forum. You are a gifted photographer and I feel you produce some of the most creative and visually pleasing images I've seen from any of the Oly photographers. I really appreciate your memorial to 'Kane' -- it hasn't been quite a year since we gave our beloved 'Gremlin' back to the Lord, with much thanks and praise for our 15+ years spent with 'Grimmy'. I had never known how close we can become with our pets before him, and just this past Saturday on a photo road trip to the Texas Hill Country his memory brought a smile to my face. I don't know how long ago Kane left your company, but I know you miss him terribly. I for one believe there'll be a reunion in heaven.
God Bless,
Greg

Hi Mark,
Thanks for leaving a note at my bird gallery. Wow praise coming from someone whose work I practically worship is unbelievable. Seriously. Your Wings of Light gallery is out of this world. Big contrast to the birds I chase around the backyard. Will be back again to study your pictures.
Regards/Anna
Mark Elert30-Nov-2003 07:52
Than you very much for you comments. As for your question: Elert is a German name and I guess Ehlers is as well. You find both name spelled with or without the "h". In English I pronounce the "e" as in elephant. In Swedish it is a longer "e", a vowel you don't have in English. Best regards/Mark

Marke,
I'm "totally empressed' with your work............your "phototastic", to say the least!
I have picture's of alot of the same subject matter you have, but not the "quality" that you have accumulated over the years.
Love all your work!!!......But for sure would love for you to at least see my "amateur"
photos"s, that I think are "good", especially the view of Milwaukke from the 12th floor
of a high rise-condimium. Have photo's of: Carpernter's Hawk, eating a pigeon, in the backyard. Interested??? Say "hello" to me, when able....I'm back frommy trip to MAYO CLINIC in Rochester, MN. Have to return, however. Take care. God Bless,
Your Friend, who shops where you work. "Tym-mer"
P. S. Can we just do a "simple-lunch" one day??? I can show you my photo's, I'm so proud of. It's hard to talk while your working. Let me Know.
My treat to lunch...

I am an olympus user for the past 1 1/2 years, having sold all my 35mm stuff and "gone digital." In January 2001 I bought a C700UZ (which I used with great success in Yellowstone last fall); this year I upgraded to an e-10 (plus MCON, TCON17B, AND TCON300S). I will be returning to Yellowstone in September. I did a lot of macro work with the MCON this spring, but I really enjoyed using the Nikon 5T and 6T adapters as well, particularly since I can still us my Vivitar 5000 ringlight with same (and they stack for approximately 4.5 diopters, versus the 3 diopters for the MCON --or the 6T + MCON for 5.9 diopters!). I would hasten also to say that the Nikons are considerably cheaper than the MCON but I cannot detect any difference in quality of image. I admire your work, as i have viewed same on the Oly SLR Forum for about three months now. I would love to correspond with you, but -- alas, your profile doesn't have an e-mail address. I am located one National Wildlife Refuge south of you in the midwest: Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge is where all the Canada geese migrate when Horicon freezes over! I don't have quite the marsh/wetlands here as do you, but the biodiversity is quite good. I'd love to cross paths with you sometime; from what I can tell you've got a pretty fair handle on Horicon and immediate environs.

Incidentally, thanks for being a voice of sanity in the midst of the 4/3 E1 chaos!

Here's to good light and willing subjects -

Mark,
Great shots. I would like to inquire about using the Hawk picture (Hunter) for a briefing I'm giving. I would like the high resolution file to crop for my use. It would not be used in any way for profit. Thanks, let me know what you think. I can tell you more by direct E-mail if you need it. Louis

Hi Mark: Thanks for the comment. You're doing some nice things with Photoshop. I think you might do pretty well with landscapes or scenics based on the few I saw here.

I hope "Kitty" was in a good mood. :-)

I enjoyed your gallery very much. The pictures from Arabian fest were very good. I also looked at your other galleries and liked the view. Was the 'changing season' taken at the zoo? I have similar pictures and wondered about that. I did take a few classes at the clearing: one advanced writing class and one last year on Tai Chi. I love the place and may again return next year, inshallah... Thanks for dropping by my site.

Beautiful. Zoomer's a honey. My blue brindle Molly wishes she were younger. Big boy Henry is not impressed, but I am. Thanks for the look-see.
